The company AGROKTIMA MELMAR S.A. was founded in 2001, based in the Municipality of Samothraki, in the Evros Regional Unit. The company's duration was set at 50 years. The legal form of the company has remained that of a Joint Stock Company since its establishment.
The company's strategic choice is to create a healthy, dynamic business on the border island of Samothraki, which will provide multiple benefits (economic, social, etc.) to the area and contribute to spreading the island's name internationally, while placing particular emphasis on quality and environmental protection.
The company operates in the field of primary production of wine grape varieties. Specifically, it maintains a proprietary standard vineyard of 86 decares in the Dafnes area of the Municipality of Samothraki, where it applies organic farming standards. The basic philosophy of organic farming is the establishment of a management system for practicing agriculture under conditions that respect and promote the environment and the quality of agricultural products. Being true to its quality policy, with the establishment of the organic farming system in its vineyards, the company aims to produce certified organic wine and distillates (primary production, winemaking, distillation, product packaging).
This investment plan aims to complement the company's existing infrastructure by establishing a distillery / winery unit that will process the by-products of winemaking (pomace).
The company was included in October 2013 in the "Support for Small and Medium Enterprises in the fields of Processing, Tourism, Trade – Services" program, co-financed by the Regional Operational Program of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (ESPA 2007-2013) with a subsidy rate of 60%.
Upon completion of the investment, the company will be able to produce, in addition to wines, a new range of high-quality refined distillates.
Expenses were incurred for the construction of new facilities and the procurement of modern mechanical equipment to ensure the productivity of the unit.
